5 ideas for walks and hikes...

…to get together with family or friends and share the simple pleasures of the great outdoors at your own pace. Whether unusual, contemplative, sporty or panoramic, these walks and hikes through forests, mountain pastures and hamlets will take you on a voyage of discovery of Grand-Bornand’s rich natural and architectural heritage: rivers, mountain lakes, century-old chalets, chamois, ibex, marmots and bearded vultures will all be part of this breathtaking experience.

01. Tour of Roc des Arces Sporty and panoramic

Duration: 2 hours
Difference in altitude: 280m

This looping route halfway up Mont Lachat alternates between tracks and mountain paths, giving you the best view of the Aravis mountain range stretching across the horizon.

02. The Mysterious Waterfall Unusual

Duration: 20min
Vertical drop: 50m

Legend has it that this pretty waterfall on the Nant du Chinaillon, tumbling down a narrow gorge for around thirty metres, marks the meeting point of the very first Bornand couple… It’s more of a walk than a hike, a pleasant and refreshing one in the shade of the Grand-Bornand Chinaillon beech forest.

03. The Roman Bridge Family

Duration: 1 hour
Height difference: 110m

At a height of 20m and as its name suggests, the Pont des Romains, which spans the Nant du Chinaillon, is located on the old Roman road to the Col de la Colombière.
As you walk along the Borne, you leave the leisure area and join an overgrown and then sparse path that leads to the Pont des Romains. This beautiful structure straddles the Chinaillon torrent, in a peaceful, cool setting.

04. The Cuillery chalets and the Samance plateau Contemplative

Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
Difference in altitude: 280m

The route follows the mountain discovery trail. It provides information about the flora and fauna along the path that leads to the traditional chalets in the hamlet of Cuillery, facing the Maroly valley dominated by Pointe Percée. You can then continue on to the Samance plateau overlooking Chinaillon, with its splendid panorama stretching from the Col de la Colombière to La Tournette.

05. The Forest Path Informative

Duration: 1h30
Height difference: 130m

Walk, discover and learn thanks to the themed trail featuring new wood carvings providing information on the specific features of the mountain forest. You can also take refuge in the woodcutters’ hut. From the orientation table, take in the 180° view of the village, the Aravis mountain range and the Tournette massif.
