Artistic and historical detours in the heart of the village
Take a look! Le Grand-Bornand cultivates the art of getting out of… out of the box. Alternative and daring, it’s an invitation to hipsters of all stripes to go green.

The only one of its kind in the world, the ” Parcours de l’Art Vache ” is as progressive, arty and offbeat as you can get. Walkers can appreciate the hundreds of works – paintings and sculptures – permanently installed throughout the village, maintained and regularly renewed by professional and amateur artists from all over the world. It’s a veritable open-air art gallery, offering a fresh, offbeat view of Grand-Bornand’s ‘star’ ruminant.
Between tradition and contemporary creation, Le Grand-Bornand cultivates a lively craft industry, to be discovered along the streets of the village. L’Augusta, a shared boutique, brings together ceramists, jewellers, textile designers and soap-makers in a beautiful collective setting. In their workshop, the Martin family shape clay with the precision of time-honoured techniques, while Didier Périllat perpetuates the skills of a skilled saddler. A few steps away, Pierre Amoudry opens his gallery to a pictorial universe rooted in mountain landscapes. Further up, Luc Périllat, Pierre Amoudry and Vincent Desplanche use sketches and stories in their mountain notebooks to illustrate their close-up view of everyday life in the mountains.
Hiking in front of the Aravis mountain range, skiing at sunset, enjoying the fresh mountain air while admiring hundred-year-old chalets, meeting the farmers, guides and craftsmen and women and enjoying a good farmhouse Reblochon cheese: these are all moments that make summer and winter in Grand-Bornand a unique experience… and help to make it a place that belongs to all of us in a small way.
The BO! Life is good for body and soul!
