The highest point in the ski area, at 2100m, Mont Lachat offers a 360° view of the Aravis range, with Mont Blanc just above in the background, and the Tournette, Bornes and Bargy massifs, as well as views of the southern Alps, Jura and Chablais in the distance…
At the top of the eponymous chairlift, this is without doubt THE best view in the region of the Aravis chain, whose spectacular enfilade marks the horizon for over thirty kilometers, between the emblematic peaks of Pointe Percée and Mont Charvin.
Seen from the sentier de la forêt, accessible via a lovely hillside walk, it’s a bit like the Bornandine “postcard”, with the heart of the village clustered around the church and its famous bulbous bell tower against the backdrop of the Aravis mountain range, imposing its majestic silhouette in the background. A classic of Alpine imagery, like no other.
Iconic, it’s in a way the emblem of Grand-Bornand: a hamlet of two-century-old chalets with a patina of the centuries and their graceful chapel with its tavaillon bell tower, offering a unique balcony overlooking the ski area wrapped around Mont Lachat. Probably one of the most photographed sites in the Alps…
A somewhat secret spot, perched at the far end of the ski area and overlooking the Col des Annes, accessible via the chairlift of the same name. In the icy silence, the view of the Pointe Percée and the string of combes and crests of the Aravis is breathtaking, as is the impression of the end of the world emanating from the Col des Annes and its hamlet, asleep under a thick blanket of snow.
Set against the backdrop of the village, discover the splendid Bouchet valley at the foot of the Aravis mountain range, a favorite Nordic skiing area, which takes you all the way to the famous Col des Annes.
