01. The summit of Mont Lachat

At an altitude of 2100m, Mont Lachat, accessible from the village by ski lift, offers a privileged view of the village of Le Grand-Bornand, the Aravis mountain range and the surrounding mountains. It’s also the starting point for numerous hikes and mountain bike rides, and a renowned paragliding take-off area. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re a keen sportsman or a contemplative enthusiast, and an orientation table gives you an exceptional 360° panoramic view.

02. La pointe Percée

The highest point in the Aravis mountain range, the majestic Pointe Percée, with its Nepal-like mineral landscape, rises to an altitude of 2750m. It boasts a breathtaking 360° view of the mythical Mont Blanc. The Massifs du toit de l’Europe, de la Tournette, des Bornes and du Bargy complete the picture! In the distance, weather permitting, you can see the southern Alps, the Jura and the Chablais.

03. The Aiguille Verte and Lessy lake

The Aiguille Verte, with its 2045m summit, offers plunging views over Lac de Lessy, overlooked by the imposing Pic du Jallouvre. Far from being its only asset, the view is breathtaking: on one side, the Almet ridge, Mont Lachat and the plunging view over the village are all there for the taking, with the Aravis mountain range as a backdrop. On the other, you can admire the Bornes massif with Lake Geneva in the distance.

04. The chalet at Cuillery and the hamlet of Les Bouts

At the foot of the Jallouvre and the Auferrand head, the two-century-old chalets with their centuries-old patina bear witness to the richness of the Bornand heritage, while offering a splendid panorama stretching from the Col de la Colombière to La Tournette, via Mont Lachat and the Aravis range.

The hamlet of Cuillery is located on the mountain discovery trail, which provides information about the flora and fauna along the path that leads from Le Grand-Bornand Chinaillon to the Maroly valley, dominated by the Pointe Percée.

The hamlet of Les Bouts is located on the mountainside below the Almet ridge, and one of its special features is that it is protected upstream by a large ridge built of stones and earth to stop avalanches.

05. Le Grand-Bornand Village and the Aravis mountains

Seen from the forest path, which can be reached on a pleasant walk along the slopes, this is a bit like the Bornand ‘postcard’, with the heart of the village clustered around the church and its famous bulbous bell tower against the backdrop of the Aravis mountain range, imposing its majestic silhouette in the background. A classic of Alpine imagery, like no other.

Nestling in the heart of the hamlet is a pretty chapel founded in 1677. Despite undergoing major renovation in 1977, it retains its old-fashioned character and contains a number of objects that bear witness to times gone by, from the Baroque style to contemporary art. With its wealth of historical and architectural details, the old village of Le Grand-Bornand Chinaillon is full of little secrets that you can discover on our guided tours.

07. The Annes Pass

At an altitude of 1720 m, at the foot of the Pointe Percée, the highest peak in the Aravis range at 2750 m, there are a number of mountain restaurants (famous for their famous potato fritters) and alpine farms, with unique architecture and breathtaking views of the Aravis range.
