A play by Olivier Dodane based on the book ‘Ainsi vêlent les glaciers’ (Thus Calve the Glaciers). Starring Elise Pichard and Emmanuel Lortet. Directed and adapted by Henri Bonnithon.
The play introduces us to a man who has “come back from the brink”. He was nearly overcome by illness, and it is thanks to writing and the mountains that he has returned to life. The mountains are both the writer's partner and his muse.
Through the magic of theatre, the mountains are personified by a woman, who comes to life as she embodies them. The writer and the mountains, now a woman, muse, nymph and child, are able to converse, alternating between reflections on life and poetic metaphors about his own mortality, mirroring that of the glaciers.
‘Thanks to the care of his loved ones, his writing, the help of his carers and the magic of nature, a small miracle will enable him to pull through and continue on his way.’
In the presence of glaciologist Jean-Baptiste Bosson, who will lead a question-and-answer session following the screening of a film by glaciologist Heidi Sevestre after the play.
Suitable for all ages, 12 and up.
Duration of the show: approximately 50 minutes.
Booking at the Tourist Office. Tickets also available online.
