There’s Avignon for theatre, Cannes for cinema, Aurillac for street arts, Auch for new circus, Charleville-Mézières for puppetry, Clisson and its Hellfest for punks and… Le Grand-Bornand for Kids’ Happiness!
One of the last major French festivals of the summer on the agenda, imagine this daring venue, where it’s no longer surprising to come across a violin prodigy in a grand-century costume playing Ravel’s Bolero head over heels, and a half-princess, half-punk Cinderella riding a… mechanical cow!
Co-created by the Théâtre de la Toupine, a European pioneer in live shows for young audiences, and the village of Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie) since 1992, Au Bonheur des Mômes has seen companies from all over the world come together in the mountain pastures. It blends the spirit of the canaille with the poetry of the saltimbanques, always with the same impertinence, this openness to live performance according to this very healthy principle:
“ABOVE ALL, DON’T BE TOO WISE!
Au Bonheur des Mômes is an enchanted interlude and one hell of a racket, the last great summer break before the start of the new school year for all children from 0 to… no age, of course!
Au Bonheur des Mômes is...
A benchmark festival
With a programme featuring the very best in international children’s and youth programming
A natural festival
Long before it became fashionable!
An inclusive festival
The right to be different and to live together has been one of the festival’s guiding principles since its inception.
A gourmet festival
In the land of Reblochon, where good food has been at the heart of the festival for over 30 years!
A rebellious child!
Anti-mercantile, Le Grand-Bornand cultivates its punk side and has never compromised on its values.
An invitation to let go of the screens…
To see something alive! Here again, a motto in the form of an alert launched in 2012

Did you know?
Au Bonheur des Mômes was born in 1992 out of a meeting between the Théâtre de la Toupine and the village of Grand-Bornand. Drawing on their respective experience in organising events and performing arts, they set the standards from the outset that would enable the festival to become a benchmark in Europe.
2024 Tilby Vattard Abdm Hd 48The festival has infiltrated the very DNA of the village of Le Grand-Bornand.
The festival has infiltrated the very DNA of the village of Le Grand-Bornand, to the point where it has become the cornerstone of its positioning as one of France’s most beautiful mountain destinations, with a strong artistic and cultural added value. With the organisation of the Annecy – Le Grand-Bornand Biathlon World Cup and Glisse en Coeur, the number 1 charity event in the French mountains, Grand-Bornand’s events dynamic is now a benchmark.
The podcast
After the show, you can (pour)follow the experience as a podcast!

Spearheaded by Antoine Guillaume, associate artist and initiator of the project, in close collaboration with the Associative Life department of Le Grand-Bornand town hall, the Culture Heritage/La Source unit of Le Grand-Bornand tourism, Espace Grand-Bo and DOKA Production, “Paroles au Grand-Bornand” brought together several generations of local people over the course of 2025, with an artist from their village, to tell the story of their region (then and now).
The “Paroles au Grand-Bornand” project involved local residents and those involved in the cultural life of the village (schools, the Municipal Youth Council, the Bornandin Heritage Association, the Elders’ Club, Atelier à l’Envers, etc.), with a twofold aim: to understand where we come from, thanks to a collection of oral testimonies from our elders, and to think about the future by working with schoolchildren.
“Paroles au Grand-Bornand” began as a circus and documentary theatre show written and performed by Antoine Guillaume, accompanied by dancer and choreographer Mélanie Manoutsis, musician and composer Bertrant Boulot, and classes of CE2/CM2 from the Chinaillon school and CM1/CM2 from the St Jean-Baptiste school, before becoming a radio programme.
