Le Grand-Bornand for Kids’ Happiness!
One of the last major French summer festivals on the calendar, imagine a place where every kind of audacity is on display, where you’re no longer surprised to come across a violin prodigy in a grand-century costume playing Ravel’s Bolero head over heels, and a half-princess, half-punk Cinderella riding a… mechanical cow!
Co-created in 1992 by the Théâtre de la Toupine, a European pioneer in the performing arts for young audiences, and the village of Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie), Au Bonheur des Mômes has since seen companies from the four corners of the globe come together in the mountain pastures. It blends the spirit of the canaille with the poetry of the saltimbanques, always with the same impertinence, this openness to the performing arts according to this very healthy principle:
“ABOVE ALL, ABOVE ALL, DON’T BE TOO WISE…!”
Au Bonheur des Mômes is the last great summer playtime before the start of the new school year for all children from 0 to… no age, of course!

In a site entirely decorated and closed to traffic, a unique festive atmosphere settles in Grand-Bornand for a whole week!
From theater, mime and puppetry to dance and circus performances, Au Bonheur des Mômes blends the whole spectrum of the performing arts in a joyous hubbub. The festival presents unique creations by well-known companies, and is also a springboard for new talent. On the program for each edition: shows, workshops on artistic practice and nature discovery, fun activities, reading times
accessible to all ages.
Did you know?
Au Bonheur des Mômes was born in 1992, when the Théâtre de la Toupine and the village of Grand-Bornand came together. Drawing on their respective experience in event organization and live entertainment, they set the standards from the outset that would enable the festival to become a benchmark in Europe.
