Camping at Le Grand-Bornand

Check the details in advance before setting up camp.

What you need to know

The mountain pastures of Le Grand-Bornand are private land used by farmers to graze their herds.

Camping is permitted, provided the camping rules are observed, only:

  • Around the Pointe Percée mountain hut,
  • near the Bombardellaz refuge

Please note that camping is strictly prohibited in certain neighbouring areas, and offenders may be fined:

  • The entire municipality of Glières-Val-de-Borne, including Lake Lessy and its refuge
  • The Peyre mountain pasture

Swimming is prohibited in the mountain lakes.

Camping rules

  • Permission from the operator or owner of the premises
  • Late set-up (at sunset)
  • Dismantling early in the morning (at sunrise)
  • One night only at the same location
  • No fires, zero waste
  • Minimal impact on the ground and vegetation
  • Silence and calm so as not to disturb wildlife
  • This isn’t about camping, but simply spending the night.
