Take advantage of the cool mornings to try your hand at climbing, or set out to tackle the major routes in an exceptional setting. The Colombière cliff, at the foot of the col of the same name regularly climbed by Tour de France champions, is a flagship climbing site in the Aravis region, at an altitude of 1800 m and facing the Pointe Percée. With 64 routes of varying difficulty marked by a particularly steep foot of the cliff, this limestone sector with its very grippy rock is ideal for friction climbing.
In a superb, peaceful setting where, with a bit of luck, you can catch the majestic flight of the lammergeier, the climbing here is varied: scales, holes, slabs with grip or small holds, grooves…
The Compagnie des Guides des Aravis offers a range of courses and supervised introductory sessions for the general public.
Leave the cow floor behind… Let yourself be tempted by the via ferrata and the Tour de Jallouvre site, in an atmosphere that is both aerial and mineral. The Via Ferrata at the Tour de Jallouvre generally opens in June, depending on snow conditions. The 1st section is currently open. Full opening is pending due to maintenance work and major snowfalls.

Take to the air… Paragliding. Le Grand-Bornand is a mecca for hang-gliding sports, just a stone’s throw from Lake Annecy and the famous Col de la Forclaz pass. With its take-off site on Mont Lachat (alt. 2100m), Le Grand-Bornand benefits from aerological conditions that set the standard for paragliders.
Escape to Lac de la Cour. This high-altitude lake in the middle of the mountain pastures offers a spectacular view of the Pic de Jallouvre, the mountain overlooking the Col de la Colombière, the legendary pass on the Grandes Alpes route. You can also enjoy a late evening around the lake… at the Fête du lac de la Cour.
