Alpine Pasture Festival 2 August 2026

This year, the Fête de l’Alpage is celebrating its 60th anniversary!

Sixty years of traditions that bring this iconic event in Le Grand-Bornand to life.
For six decades, generations of volunteers have helped to preserve and pass on the skills, culture and spirit of camaraderie of our mountains.

Come and celebrate with us these 60 years of history, shared experiences and good times. A unique opportunity to get together, celebrate as one and pay tribute to all those who have made the Fête de l’Alpage an unmissable event for young and old alike.

• 9.30 am: start of the fun run,
  • Adults: 3 km / Aged 15 and over: 3 km / Under-14s: 3 km / Under-10s: 1.5 km,
  • Register for the fun run at https://inscription-alpage.chrono-ski-aravis.fr,
  • Children’s race (under 18s): €5 / Adult race: €8,
• 10.30 am: Mass,
• 12.00: outdoor lunch accompanied by the Grand-Bornand Wind Orchestra,
• From 1.30 pm:
  • “Lou Brafaudi” folk group,
  • logging competition, featuring the region’s best loggers,
• 3.30 pm: grand parade of floats on the theme “Our cult films from the last 60 years”,
• 6.00 pm: final of the woodcutting competition,
• 6.30 pm: demonstration of how Reblochon cheese is made,
• 7.00 pm: drinks reception / dinner with entertainment by the band “Captiv”,
• From 10.00 pm: fireworks, illumination of the surrounding peaks with LED torches, followed by a free dance party hosted by a DJ.

Throughout the day:

• demonstrations of traditional trades by local elders,
• an introduction to rock climbing,
• grass skiing,
• plenty of activities for young and old alike.

Free bus service on route A (Le Grand-Bornand Village / Le Chinaillon) with increased frequency throughout the day and extended into the evening.

Departures:

• from the coach station in Le Grand-Bornand Village, every 20 minutes from 10.10 am to 12.10 pm, every 15 minutes from 1.20 pm to 7.30 pm and every 30 minutes from 7.30 pm to midnight.
• from the Floria stop in Le Chinaillon, every 20 minutes from 10.25 am to 12.25 pm, every 15 minutes from 1.35 pm to 7.45 pm and every 30 minutes from 7.45 pm to 12.15 am (last departure).

Please note that at Chinaillon, the stops Ecole du Chinaillon, La Matte, Les Outalays, Le Charmieux and Les Bruyères will not be served from 2.00 pm on Saturday 1 August and all day on Sunday 3 August (road closed for the festival). Please go to the Floria stop.
