Alpine Pasture Festival 2 August 2026

Alpine Pasture Festival celebrating local traditions, with a wide range of activities showcasing life on the mountain pastures. From an open-air mass to demonstrations of herding dogs, not to mention the woodcutters’ competition, there’s something for all ages!

The 2025 Programme

  • 9.30 am: start of the running race (adults: 3 km / over 15s: 3 km / U14: 3 km / U10: 1.5 km). Register at inscription-alpage.chrono-ski-aravis.fr,
  • 10.30 am: mass,
  • 12 noon: outdoor lunch accompanied by the Grand-Bornand Harmony Orchestra,
  • From 1.30 pm:
    • the folk group “Lous Pastourios”
    • logging competition, featuring the region’s best loggers.
  • 3.30 pm: grand parade of floats on the theme: “The States of America”,
  • 6 pm: final of the woodcutting competition,
  • 6.30 pm: demonstration of how Reblochon cheese is made,
  • 7.00 pm: drinks reception / dinner with entertainment by the band “Captiv”,
  • From 10.00 pm: fireworks and free dance party with a DJ.

Throughout the day:

  • demonstrations of traditional trades by local elders,
  • an introduction to rock climbing,
  • plenty of activities for young and old,
  • grass skiing.

Bus service on route A (Le Grand-Bornand Village / Le Chinaillon) will run more frequently throughout the day and continue into the evening.

Departures:

  • from the coach station in Le Grand-Bornand Village, every 20 minutes from 10.10 am to 12.10 pm, every 15 minutes from 1.20 pm to 6.35 pm and every 30 minutes from 7.30 pm to 11.30 pm.
  • from the Floria stop in Le Chinaillon, every 20 minutes from 10.05 am to 12.25 pm, every 15 minutes from 1.35 pm to 6.50 pm and every 30 minutes from 7.45 pm to 11.45 pm (last departure).
