Mountain festival 14 July 2026

A Savoyard meal in the village square, featuring a range of entertainment, including a guided tour of the illuminated peaks of the Aravis range, followed by a dance… Organised by the Mountain Rescue Service and the Grand-Bornand Guides’ Association.

2026 programme

  • 2.30 pm–6 pm: free activities: rock climbing, slacklining, wood tooling (climbing with an ice axe), the Dahut trail and mountain wildlife with guides and leaders,
  • 3.00 pm: the refreshment bar opens,
  • From 4.30 pm: polenta cooked over a wood fire,
  • 5.00 pm: Mountain Rescue demonstration on the church bell tower,
  • From 7.30 pm: Savoyard meal with live music, featuring the band “Cocktail des Montagnes”.Menu: diots / polenta, cheese, pastries, coffee,
  • 9.15 pm: climbing demonstration by the Guides’ Association,
  • 10.10 pm: guided tour of the illuminated peaks of the Aravis range,
  • 10.30 pm: 14 July dance with the band “Captiv”.Extra shuttle services on route A (Le Grand-Bornand Village / Chinaillon):
  • departures at 8.00 pm, 8.50 pm, 9.40 pm, 10.30 pm and 11.20 pm from the “Gare routière” stop in Le Grand-Bornand Village,
  • departing at 8.20 pm, 9.10 pm, 10 pm, 10.50 pm and 11.40 pm from the “Office de tourisme du Chinaillon” stop in Le Grand-Bornand Chinaillon.

All vehicle traffic will be prohibited on 14 July from 4.00 pm until 1.00 am on 15 July, along the church and on Place de la Grenette.
All vehicles will be prohibited from 18.30 on 14 July until 01.00 on 15 July between the chemist’s, the town hall and the Sherpa supermarket.
A diversion will be in place via Route du Borne and Route de la Patinoire.
The car park next to the church will be closed from 2.00 pm on Wednesday 10 July until 5.00 pm on Monday 15 July.

! The World Cup semi-final will be shown on a giant screen if France qualify, with the Mountain Festival timetable adjusted accordingly!
