5 good reasons to spend a day at the leisure park

Relaxing

What could be more refreshing, after returning from a lovely walk, than taking a break on the shaded banks of the Borne and its leisure area? Ideally situated just a stone’s throw from the village centre, this natural area and its sports ground are perfect for a wide range of activities (tennis, archery, beach volleyball, etc.). Here are the ‘top 5’ reasons to spend a few hours there… or even the whole day!

01. Have a dip in the pool

Spanning over 12,500 m² of pools and water features, the Grand-Bornand water park is just a stone’s throw from the heart of the village. With its swimming pool, water slide, snack bar, terrace and paddling pool, you can choose to swim or splash about in this recently… refurbished facility!

02. Hitting the tracks… at the new pump tracks and skatepark

The pump track – a closed circuit featuring a mix of bumps and banked turns – comprises three tracks classified as green, blue and red, covering an area of 1,350 m² and accessible to all non-motorised or electric board sports equipment, such as mountain bikes, BMX bikes, roller skates, scooters, skateboards and balance bikes. As well as promoting physical activity from the age of 4 or 5, this facility – situated next to the new flowpark-style skatepark – is designed to be a place for socialising, learning and intergenerational interaction.

03. Look at the Dahu!

This legendary creature, a figure from mountain folklore, stands majestically at the centre of the playground of the same name, whilst also providing a hut straight out of a storybook for children aged 3 to 14. Slides, swings, a hammock, wooden sculptures, spring-loaded mini-games, a balance course and a playhouse bring this spectacular park to life, paying homage to the Alpine animal kingdom.

04. Having a picnic by the stream

What could be more pleasant than simply settling down beside the Borne, the river that gave the village its name, whose course here is still leisurely as it winds its way towards the gorges of Entremont and Glières-Val-de-Borne? And with a bit of luck, some talented local youngsters will have built graceful cairns in its bed…

05. Get back into shape at the fitness area

Better than a fitness trail, the new fitness and strength-training area feels like an open-air gym, accessible free of charge all year round! Spanning 360m² of landscaped woodland clearing, you can use the rowing machine, abdominal bench and other cross-training stations whilst jogging to the sound of the Borne’s gentle lapping!
