Hamlet of delights

Gourmet breaks and moments of relaxation in the heart of nature

A favourite destination for epicureans, Le Grand-Bornand offers a full range of leisure and fitness activities in one of the most beautiful high altitude villages in the French Alps. Its fine restaurants offering the very best in local gastronomy are a well-deserved reward for an intense session of skiing in the setting sun... or, for the more zen-minded, a yoga session with a view of the Aravis mountain range. With 42 farms producing the famous farmhouse Reblochon, it is the leading agricultural commune in Haute-Savoie!

Haute-Savoie flavours

Le Grand-Bornand is the home of farmhouse Reblochon cheese, which traditionally dates back to the Middle Ages in the mountain pastures of the Col des Annes, and has as many cows as inhabitants! This know-how is perpetuated by its young farmers, and can be discovered and savoured on a trip to the farm... or over a good meal, as the village is not short of great places to eat, ranging from quality fast food to the panoramic terrace at the top of the slopes, not forgetting the bistronomic restaurants dotted around the main streets of the village and Chinaillon.

Shopping ideas and souvenirs from Haute-Savoie

While some will opt for a restorative siesta, even if it means taking advantage of the rest areas set up on the most beautiful balconies in the ski area, shopping enthusiasts will discover the wealth of small-scale Alpine food production (cheeses, charcuterie, honeys, biscuits and other drinks) in the delicatessens and other small food shops in the resort. A diversion to the village's artisan bakers is a must if you want to sample the famous bescoin, a relic from the heyday of the House of Savoy!
